Soupsköl featured at Aspen’s Annual Wintersköl Celebration

Aspen’s Annual Wintersköl Celebration has a festive soup-cooking contest judged by the public to determine what restaurant has the best soup in town.  It’s called Soupsköl!  The competition gives the winner bragging rights for the entire next year!  Last season, over 3,000 locals and tourists attended the event and every year it keeps growing in popularity.  It is designed to bring friendly competition to the restaurants within the Roaring Fork Valley.

Chef Clark Church and his team won the Soupsköl competition for 4-years straight  (2007-2009, Three-Peat for Church's Chowder and 2010 for Wisconsin Beer Cheese Soup).  Church's Chowder, a New England Clam Chowder, is hearty and hot and served with a smile.  This recipe will be featured in the Ski Town Soups cookbook!  Merry-Go-Round, 2011 Soupsköl winner, will also be highlighted in the cookbook!  Ute City and Chef Rob MacClanahan, the 2012 champion, will be showcased, as well, with their winning soup recipe - Red Bell Pepper Parmesan Soup.

Wouldn’t it be fun to be a soup connoisseur, sampling dozens of soups and voting for your favorite?!
