Tour of Tastes

Gourmet on Gore is one of my favorite food events in Vail, artwork above created by Carrie Fell! One can really be on their own schedule and eat as much or as little (not likely) as one would want.  On Friday, August 30, under an overcast sky, I arrived at Perch in the Vail Village for the beginning of the Gourmet on Gore Tasting Tour, where the proceeds of the evening benefitted Habitat for Humanity of Eagle and Lake Counties.

Fundraising to Fill the "Empty Bowls"

About a week ago, I had the utmost pleasure to attend the Empty Bowls fundraiser at Battle Mountain High School in Edwards, Colorado. This luncheon raises funds for the Vail Valley Salvation Army, where a fourth of the annual budget restocks food pantries and provides food assistance throughout the Valley.

Announcing 2013 U.S. Alpine Ski Team

Vail Mountain celebrates its 50th anniversary season this year! To jump-start the festivities, the U.S. Ski Team including Olympic champions Lindsey Vonn (Vail, CO), Bode Miller (Franconia, NH) and Julia Mancuso (Squaw Valley, CA) will be there to kick-off the introduction of the 2013 U.S. Alpine Ski Team on November 15, 2012 at 5pm in Vail, Colorado.

Vail Valley Foundation's Sowing Seeds Program gets Healthy

The Vail Valley Foundation, founded in 1981, has an outstanding goal – give all children in Eagle County access to education-based programs that ignite passions and expand their horizons.  The foundation identifies gaps and develops, evaluates and funds programs to fulfill youth’s needs.  One of these programs, co-founded by Chef Kelly Liken, is Sowing Seeds (est. 2010).
