Having not been to Lake Placid or the glorious Mirror Lake Inn resort grounds, we had to take advantage of all the offerings! We arrived late in the afternoon on Wednesday, June 19, and were able to savor a dinner at The Cottage Café, which features the Cottage Chili recipe in the Ski Town Soups cookbook. I had a bright, crisp salad of arugula, heirloom tomatoes, goat cheese and lemon basil vinaigrette. It was absolutely divine, and especially tasty with the baked brie cheese plate!
Life of a Foodie is pretty spectacular in Vail, Colorado! On Saturday, April 6, Taste of Vail hosted the culinary spectacle that gourmands anticipate each spring … The Grand Tasting! This food-frenzy is a celebration of culinary excellence and promotes the dining establishments both on and off the mountain. In addition to the granddaddy of wine, spirits, beer and food tastings, Taste of Vail hosts other events such as the Mountaintop Picnic, Lamb Cook-off and Apres Ski Tasting, and Nordic Wine, Beer & Liquor Sampling.
On Sunday, March 10th, Vail and the Four Seasons welcomed the traveling culinary competition and tasting event, Cochon555, for it’s 5th Anniversary Tour. This culinary extravaganza features five chefs, five pigs, and five winemakers, and aims to promote a national conversation around the sustainable farming of heritage-breed pigs. The five local chefs creatively prepared a menu from the entirety of one 200-pound family-raised heritage breed of pig, nose-to-tail.
On Thursday, February 7, Boulder Bookstore patrons enjoyed an evening of sampling soup and learning about the Ski Town Soups journey. Some heavy-hitters were in attendance: the social media guru and freelance writer from Edible Front Range magazine, a publishing house representative, Jeremy Kossler, Founder of Food Events in Denver, and also Kelly Kossler, who, along with Jeremy, co-founded Denver Burger Battle.
On January 22nd, Chef Kevin McCombs, Executive Chef at Ski Tip Lodge in Keystone, hosted a “Meet Our Chef” event. This evening was a blissful gathering of culinary connoisseurs in one of the cozy hearth rooms in front of a roaring fire - a quintessential Ski Tip Lodge experience.
Last evening, Monday, December 10, was a fantastic celebration of Flame Restaurant at Four Seasons Resort Vail. Launching the new theme: Modern Mountain Steak, Chef Jason Harrison aimed to impress … and succeeded!
